Shipping & Returns
FFLs and Transfer of Ownership
Tall Tales can only transfer ownership of a firearm to individuals or businesses with a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL). This means that we can only directly ship firearms to FFL holders. However, if you do not possess an FFL, you can purchase a firearm and have it sent to a local FFL dealer in order to complete the transfer.
To ensure a successful transfer from your local FFL dealer, you must:
- Ensure the firearm is legal in your state or city
- Contact the FFL dealer to obtain a copy of their FFL license and send it to our store
- Complete all required paperwork when picking up your firearm from your local FFL dealer
- Inspect the firearm thoroughly before accepting the transfer
Most FFL dealers will charge a fee to complete the transfer. This fee is paid directly to the FFL dealer from the buyer and does not in any way go through Tall Tales.
You are also responsible for ensuring your local FFL dealer sends a copy of their FFL to Tall Tales in order to ship your firearm purchase.
Shipping
Firearms ship free except to AK, HI, PR, and other U.S. territories. Please contact store for a shipping quote if you live in these states or territories. All handguns are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. All long guns are shipped via UPS. Shipping rates and methods with other items depend on location and item.
New Firearm Returns
Once a firearm is transferred to you from a local FFL dealer the firearm is considered used, even if it has not been fired. As a result, we cannot accept returns on firearms after they have been transferred. Please be sure to inspect your purchase carefully and thoroughly when picking it up at an FFL dealer before completing the transfer.
If you discover a defect after the transfer, you must return the firearm directly to the manufacturer for replacement or repair in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty policy. Manufacturer-repaired firearms can be returned directly to a customer without additional FFL transfer fees.
Used Firearm Returns
Used firearms are sold as-is and returns will be made on a case by case basis. Please contact us to inquire about or initiate a used firearm return.
Accessory and Ammunition Returns

Please contact the store to initiate or inquire about a specific return.
Any accessories that have been installed or mounted cannot be accepted. Most of these items have a manufacturer warranty and can be dealt with accordingly after installation.
