Vermont Restrictions
All firearms purchasers must be as least 21 years old. Purchasers under 21 that have completed a Vermont hunter safety course and provide a certificate of completion may buy long guns only.
Long Guns
Prohibited:

Rifles and shotguns with a magazine capacity over 10 rounds
- Rifles and magazines with 10 rounds, except: firearms with an attached tubular device designed to accept and capable of operating with .22 rimfire ammunition, all calibers of lever-action or bolt-action rifles, or antique firearms made befroe 1898, and curio and relic category firearms
Handguns
Prohibited:
- Handguns with a magazine capacity over 15 rounds
Ammunition and Accessories
Prohibited:

Handgun magazines exceeding 15 rounds
- Rifle magazines exceeding 10 rounds, except: firearms with an attached tubular device designed to accept and capable of operating with .22 rimfire ammunition, all calibers of lever-action or bolt-action rifles, or antique firearms made befroe 1898, and curio and relic category firearms
